Loudoun Valley Emmaus held its first walk on Memorial Day Weekend in 1993. It has held four walks per year, two in late spring, and two in early November.

The area covered by the LoVE Community is primarily Loudoun County in Virginia, which is the top of the state from Dulles International Airport to West Virginia, and also Chantilly, Centreville, Manassas, Warrenton, and Winchester. Many of the Sand Hills Community, North Carolina, founding members walked with LoVE. We also have 3 citizens of the Slovak Republic in Europe who walked with us in Virginia.

News and Information
Greetings,

I apologize for the lateness of this month’s newsletter.  This is a time for me when I have too many balls in the air and as a result I have a little case of writer’s block.  I will be removing one of the larger balls on Saturday when my daughter gets married… something I have been looking forward to and planning for the past year.

Many times I have thought of Jesus relating his relationship to us as a wedding feast.  The Christian walk, then, is our preparation for the wedding.  Like most of life’s events it is easy to lose God in the details and the planning.  That is why it is so important to remain steadfast in giving our hearts, minds and bodies to Him… I seem to remember hearing something about Piety, Growth, and Action.  It is my hope that you all are putting these concepts into action in your lives.

As far community news…the fall conference room teams are in the process of being assembled.  For those of our newer members, those who have never been in the conference room, or those who may not have been there for a while there are opportunities to serve on the weekend outside of the conference room.  If you are interested you may serve on the outside support team.  Please contact Scott Garber or Barbara McCurry.  Other opportunities to serve will begin to be announced at the Gatherings.

As some of you may know, Ann McKinney has had to resign from the Board due to family issues.  Please lift up the entire McKinney family in your prayers.  This creates an opening on the Board that we need to fill.  Ann’s term was to expire at the end of 2011.  I am asking that each of you prayerfully consider replacing Ann on the Board.  Please direct any questions you may have to me or to Wayne Reynolds, our nominations chairperson.  We have been without Ann for several months and Meredith Kinerney has been unselfishly performing Ann’s job as well as her own.  Thank you, Meredith!

Again, please prayerfully consider whether or not God may be calling you to serve on the Board.  Please have a wonderful Gathering and I will rejoin you next month.
